Chromebooks for our Classroom

I have an incredible opportunity to get some Chromebooks for my kids at an unheard of price!  I was approved for a project to get 6 Chrome Books for only $99 per computer through Donor's Choose.  To make this opportunity even more incredible for the next 7 days Donor's Choose will match dollar for dollar any donations given to my project!!!  Please tell your family and friends, anyone who may be willing to help us fund this project!  Help me spread the word.  There are only a limited number of Chromebooks available for this price so we need to act quickly or they will be gone.  Every little bit helps.  Donations-no matter the size, will help these kids.  Oh and did I mention that all donations are tax deductible.

To learn more or donate:

1.     Visit my Teacher Page, http://www.donorschoose.org/mrs.sumens
2.     Choose the project Chrome Books for Kinder Kids, enter the amount of your donation, and click "Give"
3.     During check-out, enter the word INSPIRE where it says "Match or gift code", and your donation will be matched dollar for dollar.

EDITED TO ADD:  Our project is fully funded!!!  I cannot believe we got it funded in less than a WEEK!  Thank you to all of our amazing donor's.  My kiddos and I are so excited for our chromebooks.

  1. Hi Mindy, I love your website. I am a second year teacher and my principal informed me he won't purchase macs or desktops for the class, but would be interested in buying a few Chromebooks. How have implemented them in the class? How have they enhanced your curriculum?

    1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They are only web based so you cannot install programs, know that. Some of the first grade teachers at my old school got some thinking they could do Waterford type programs, you can't! Knowing that let's move on.... I love them! They boot up in seconds, they keep themselves current and up to date without me having to click on things constantly and wait for updates. If you want to have students write papers, etc. just use google docs! Fabulous. We do ABC mouse, Starfall, Online Storytime, and about a hundred other online educational websites. My kiddos love National Geographic Kids and I love that they are getting the computer skills they need. I just use them as a center during part of my day. I try to have something that coordinates with what we are studying. They do their abc mouse lesson first and then choose another website from my book marks across the top. I update my chrome account for the chromebooks on my teacher computer and it updates all of the chromebooks when they log on. EASY! They are fabulous.

  2. I am going to have my hands on a class set of chromebooks to pilot this Spring. I am wondering if you have done any projects with your chromebooks at kindergarten or if you have any great ideas for a project to do on these pieces of technology. I know they are great for accessing learning online, but I want to do a little more with them...thanks for any help.
