mrs. mindy

Let me begin by introducing myself.  My name is Mindy.  I am a proud graduate of SUU where I met my amazing husband Russ.  We were married in 2003 (almost 10 years ago) and he is my very best friend (who also happens to be very talented and incredibly smart, he answers all of my techie questions).
Our little family {spring 2010}
After I finished college we moved a little farther south  to the very hot hot hot desert of St. George (my hubby's hometown).  After my first year of teaching in 5th grade (which is just BRUTAL for an early childhood minor) I was offered a first grade position the next year and I jumped at the opportunity (those fifth graders scared me, not gonna lie) and enjoyed three years teaching first grade.  Russ and I bought a house, had our first child and I continued to teach full time until the arrival of our second child in June of 2008.  With two young kids I  decided to switch to a part-time position in Reading Recovery and received my Reading Recovery training in 2008-2009.  It was life changing or at least mind changing.  I taught Reading Recovery and extended-day kindergarten for two years and enjoyed this time to work one on one with students in intensive reading instruction.  In March of 2010 Russ and I welcomed our third little baby to our family.  Our oldest was only three and a half, just call us crazy!  While I was out on maternity leave I got a phone call from my super amazing principal asking me if I would be interested in moving to kindergarten full time!  I was thrilled, kindergarten has always been my dream job, I love it!  Kindergarten is where my heart is and I truly enjoy coming to work every day.  I am now going on my third year in kindergarten and it only gets better.  Our oldest daughter is starting school this year and I am over the moon with excitement to have her in my class!  I am determined to make it the best year ever!!!
